Kelly Dawn Dial Obituary-Death News; Beloved Ag Science Teacher and Mentor Passes Away
The community of Groveton, Texas, is mourning the loss of Kelly Dawn Dial, a devoted educator, mentor, and friend whose warmth and dedication touched countless lives.
Kelly, who served as an Agricultural Science Teacher at Centerville High School and a Reading Lab Specialist at Groveton ISD, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and inspiration.
Born in Livingston, Texas, and raised in Big Sandy, Kelly was a proud graduate of Big Sandy High School. Her passion for learning and teaching led her to Sam Houston State University, where she prepared for a career that would shape young minds and nurture future leaders.
Kelly began her professional journey as an Elementary Special Education Teacher at Big Sandy ISD, where her compassion and creativity brought comfort and growth to her students.
Her career later expanded into multiple roles that reflected her versatility and commitment. Whether she was guiding students in the agricultural sciences, fostering literacy skills in the reading lab, or offering a listening ear and encouraging words to a colleague, Kelly poured her heart into everything she did.
She approached her work not just as a job but as a calling, one that demanded patience, empathy, and an unshakable belief in every student’s potential. Kelly’s colleagues describe her as the kind of teacher who made everyone feel like they were her “very best friend.”
She had the rare gift of connection—of making people feel seen, valued, and understood. As one friend shared:
“Kelly Dawn Dial—my friend, traveling partner, favorite time keeper, G’s otha motha—the list is just too long to type. You were something special not just to me, but to everyone who met you. You made everyone feel like they were your very best friend. You were the World Champion of mommas… You wore every hat I’ve ever seen a woman wear, and you wore each one perfectly. The hole you will leave in the hearts all over is one that cannot be filled.”
Her influence was especially profound among her fellow educators. Many looked to her for mentorship and advice, particularly in the agricultural science field. One colleague expressed the sentiment shared by many in the teaching community:
“I’m speechless and in disbelief, my heart hurts for everyone, my community, my school, my friends, family… everyone. She was my ag teacher mentor since I started teaching. I went to her for support and guidance as I needed it. Kelly Dial, you are and will be so missed.”
Kelly’s love for her students and coworkers was matched only by her devotion to her family. She was a proud wife to Vance Dial and a loving mother whose sons were her greatest joy. Friends have pledged to honor her memory by caring for and supporting her family, promising to encourage, pray for, and stand beside them in the days ahead.
Known for her boundless energy and willingness to step into any role, Kelly was deeply involved in her community. She not only taught skills and knowledge but also modeled resilience, kindness, and integrity. Her students learned more than the curriculum—they learned how to believe in themselves, work hard, and treat others with compassion.
The impact of her life will be felt for years to come. In classrooms, at school events, and in the hearts of those who knew her, Kelly’s spirit will continue to shine. Her friends and family take comfort in the belief that each person who carries a piece of her kindness forward will help keep her legacy alive.
Kelly Dawn Dial’s passing leaves a void that words can hardly capture. Yet the memories, lessons, and love she gave to so many will endure, reminding all who knew her of the power of a life lived with purpose and heart.
