Authorities said the crash happened around 3:10 a.m. near the Boone River in the area of Highway 3. A John Deere Gator, carrying two occupants, veered too close to the riverbank and went over a steep drop into the river. Both individuals were ejected from the vehicle.
McKenna Woodbeck, who was riding as a passenger, was trapped beneath the UTV and pronounced dead at the scene. The 21-year-old driver sustained injuries. Investigators confirmed that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Eagle Grove Police and Ambulance, and the Goldfield Fire Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
