Michelle Gracia Obituary, Cause of Death; Michelle Gracia Identified as Victim in Tucson Murder-Suicide
Authorities have identified Michelle Gracia as the victim in a tragic murder-suicide that occurred Monday, September 8, in a home near Swan and Glenn.
The Pima County Attorney’s Office confirmed that the incident involved a domestic violence case in which the suspect, previously prosecuted for felony strangulation charges, killed Gracia before taking his own life.
Gracia was remembered by her daughter, Mikayla Seoul, who described her mother as a devoted family woman and a “beloved grandmother” whose loss leaves a profound void.
The Attorney’s Office released a statement emphasizing the dangers of domestic violence, particularly cases involving strangulation.
“This case involves intimate partner strangulation. There is a high lethality associated with Domestic Violence Strangulation. Forty-three percent of all women who are murdered have been previously strangled by their partner. When a person has been strangled by their partner, there is an 800% increase in the likelihood of that person being murdered,” the statement read.

Officials revealed they had previously objected to the suspect’s release from custody due to escalating violence.
“In this case, we argued and secured a bond to keep him in jail, but the defendant returned to court asking for a second chance to be released. We strenuously objected due to our grave concerns,” the Attorney’s Office stated.
Neighbors said police have been called to the residence multiple times in the past. One neighbor recalled a family member attempting to check on the suspect just days before the murder-suicide but received no answer at the door.
“We’re kind of scared because we’ve never had any trouble like this on the street,” said longtime resident Tom Stoddard. “I’ve lived here 23 years and we’ve never had that many police at one house.”
Authorities say more details will be released in the coming days.
