Jammy Weaver Obituary-Death News; 53 Year Old Johnston Man Jammy Weaver killed In Motorcycle Accident On U.S. Highway 25 Near Sweetwater Road, South Carolina
A motorcyclist was killed Friday night after striking a utility line that had fallen across Edgefield Road in Aiken County, according to authorities and a witness at the scene.
The incident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Edgefield Road and Sweetwater Road. The victim, 53-year-old Jammy Weaver of Johnston, South Carolina, was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson southbound on Edgefield Road when he struck a utility wire that had come down from a traffic light pole, causing him to be thrown from his motorcycle.
Weaver was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:10 p.m., according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Newberry.
A witness, Troy Walters, said online that a semi-truck had passed through the intersection before the crash and struck the traffic light pole, which brought down the overhead utility lines. Others say the pole simply fell.
Weaver’s motorcycle collided with one of those wires as he entered the intersection, authorities said.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident.
