Landon Harris Car Accident; Lorena Community Mourning Loss Of High School Senior Killed In A Car Accident

Landon Harris, 18, a beloved Lorena High School student, was killed in a head-on collision on May 20 in Lee County, the Texas Dept. of Public Safety confirmed to KWTX.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Landon Harris, a student of the Lorena class of 2025,” Lorena High School Principal Matt Rambo wrote in a letter to parents. “He was a beloved classmate, teammate, son, brother, and important member of our student community.”

“In the time of this great loss, we implore the Lorena community to take the opportunity to honor Landon’s life with our unity, respect, and perseverance.”

The collision happened at about 7 a.m. on US 77 in Lee County near the Milam County line.

Harris and Jarrett Hawkins, 36, were riding in a Toyota Tacoma traveling south on the highway when, according to DPS, the Tacoma entered the northbound lane and struck a Dodge Ram pickup head on.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was identified as 49-year-old Daniel Phillips.

All three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said.
