Chicago Police Shooting Today, Man Fatally Injured After Chicago Police-involved Shooting Outside River North Hotel
On the afternoon of April 7, 2025, a police-involved shooting occurred outside the Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 30 East Hubbard Street in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The incident began around 2:45 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a man armed with a knife.
Upon arrival, they encountered an individual wielding a six-inch butcher knife. During the confrontation, officers discharged their weapons, critically injuring the man, who was subsequently transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) has initiated an investigation into the shooting, as is standard procedure in such incidents. No officers were reported injured. Further details about the events leading up to the shooting have not been released at this time.
This event adds to a series of violent incidents in the River North area. Approximately four weeks prior, on March 9, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot during an argument on the sidewalk in the 600 block of North Franklin Street.
