Nicholas David Anderson Shooting; Nicholas David Anderson Passes Away In Fatal Bear River Shooting
Authorities have confirmed that Nicholas David Anderson, born May 2, 1996, died from a gunshot wound to the chest after an encounter with law enforcement on June 5, 2025, at the Bear River Recreation Center in Humboldt County.
He was pronounced dead following the shooting incident, and a forensic examination determined the cause of death to be the chest wound. Toxicology results are still pending.
The deputy involved in the fatal encounter has been identified as Corporal Bradford Anderson, a nine-year member of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. In accordance with departmental procedures, he has been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.
The case is currently under review by the Humboldt County Critical Incident Response Team. Authorities have stated that further updates will be made available in line with state legal requirements.
