Tragedy struck the University of California, Irvine community today as news emerged of the untimely death of a student who died by suicide on campus. The incident, which occurred earlier in the day, has left students, faculty, and staff reeling with shock, sadness, and a profound sense of loss.

Although the identity of the student has not been publicly released out of respect for the family’s privacy, the impact of the tragedy is already being felt deeply across the UCI campus.

Friends and classmates of the student are remembering them as kind, hardworking, and deeply loved, though many also admit they never suspected the depth of the struggles the student may have faced.
