Ellie Knight, of Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 2, 2025, at the age of 26, following a courageous and grace-filled battle with ovarian cancer. A radiant soul taken too soon, Ellie brought light, laughter, and love to every life she touched.
Born and raised in Perry, Georgia, Ellie carried her small-town warmth into every corner of her life. She later made Athens her home, where she built a career and community that reflected her vibrant personality and creative spirit.
Ellie worked with Whitewood Events, where she helped bring people together through beautifully planned celebrations, a fitting legacy for someone whose presence was a cause for celebration.
Whether through her professional work or everyday conversations, Ellie had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved.
Her journey with cancer began unexpectedly on December 10, 2024, when doctors discovered a mass in her abdomen. She was officially diagnosed with ovarian cancer on December 31.
Though the diagnosis came swiftly, and the disease progressed aggressively, Ellie met each day of her 71-day hospital stay with astonishing bravery, undergoing multiple surgeries and two rounds of chemotherapy with resilience and grace.
Surrounded by her loving family and friends, Ellie passed peacefully, a warrior until the very end.
Her sister, Stuart Knight, shared this loving tribute:
“Ellie was the best of friends, a loving daughter, an amazing aunt, and the sweetest little sister I could have asked for. She will be missed dearly, and I know everyone will regret her absence from their lives and events for decades to come.
Although her life was much shorter than we would’ve liked it to be, we can all rest easy knowing that she lived to the fullest and touched many lives with her kind spirit and contagious smile.”
Ellie’s warmth, humor, and heartfelt kindness left a deep imprint on all who knew her. She was a light in the lives of her family, friends, colleagues, and community. Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the lives she uplifted with her joy and generosity.
Ellie Knight Obituary and Funeral Arrangements
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia (205 N Davis Dr, Warner Robins, GA 31093). Visitation and lunch will follow the service in Carter Hall. McCullough Funeral Home in Centerville is handling the arrangements.
Instead of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Ellie’s memory to a charity supporting ovarian cancer research or a cause close to your heart, just as Ellie would have wanted.
