Kendra Hodges Obituary-Death News; Kendra Hodges Passed Away – Purdue University Secretary Kendra Hodges Dies In Romney Indiana Fire Accident

It is with profound sadness that the community mourns the loss of Kendra Hodges, a devoted Purdue University secretary and beloved local resident originally from Romney, Indiana. Kendra passed away in a tragic fire accident in Romney on June 29, 2025. Her life was characterized by warmth, professionalism, and an enduring dedication to others.

Kendra graduated from Southwestern High School in Crawfordsville before pursuing higher education at Ivy Tech Community College. With a passion for serving her fellow Hoosiers, she joined Purdue University as a secretary in 2012. In this role, she quickly became known for her efficient organization, her ability to anticipate the needs of colleagues and students alike, and her unwavering kindness.

Both within Purdue’s administrative offices and beyond, Kendra was a trusted confidante—whether juggling schedules, facilitating communication between departments, or brightening everyone’s day with her gentle humor. Her meticulous attention to detail and genuine empathy were hallmarks of her tenure. Long after her retirement from the university, she remained an active presence in campus gatherings, alumni events, and support networks for faculty staff.

Outside of work, Kendra was deeply rooted in the Romney-Lafayette community. She cherished family time, especially with her father, Wesley Hodges of Lafayette, and her brother, Adam Hodges. Wesley’s obituary recalls Kendra as a loyal daughter and loving sister. Kendra was also warmly regarded by neighbors and friends as someone who could be counted on—whether lending a listening ear or volunteering at school events.

The devastating fire that claimed her life has left the community with heavy hearts. Authorities continue to investigate the cause, and in the meantime, an outpouring of support—from Purdue faculty to local residents—has been expressed in flowers, condolences, and shared memories.

A public memorial service to celebrate Kendra’s life will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a Purdue University staff scholarship fund, supporting the next generation of administrative professionals in Kendra’s honor.

Kendra Hodges will be remembered as a dedicated professional and caring friend whose warmth, composure, and generosity left a lasting impression. Her legacy lives on in the smiles she sparked, the support she gave, and the quiet strength she embodied every day. May she rest in peace, forever remembered.
