The Laurens, South Carolina community is reeling from the tragic and senseless loss of Chandler Davis and Abby Davis, who died over the weekend in a devastating boating accident caused by an allegedly intoxicated boater.

The incident has left two heartbroken families and a community mourning the lives of two vibrant young people taken far too soon. Chandler Davis, a dedicated and ambitious young man, worked as a Construction Engineer at Metromont Corporation and was also employed with RCS Grading, Inc.

He was a student at Clemson University, pursuing his education while simultaneously making strides in his career. Chandler was known for his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and deep devotion to his family and friends.

Born and raised in Laurens, SC, he was a beloved son, brother, and friend. His presence brought joy and calm wherever he went. Abby Davis, Chandler’s girlfriend, was equally beloved in the Laurens community.

She had a warm, kind-hearted spirit that left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Abby’s connection to the community ran deep—she had been enrolled at Hickory Tickory Tots as an infant and maintained close ties with many throughout her life.

Her gentle demeanor, kindness, and love for those around her made her a bright light in the lives of many. Their relationship was filled with joy, laughter, and the kind of love that left a mark on those around them. Together, they shared dreams and built memories that those who loved them will forever cherish.

Tragically, their lives were cut short due to the reckless actions of a drunk boater—an act of negligence that has left two families devastated and a town in mourning.

In a heartfelt statement, staff from Hickory Tickory Tots—a daycare and early childhood center closely connected to both Chandler’s and Abby’s families—shared their grief: “Our hearts are saddened and broken… This is such a senseless act of negligence and now two very broken families. NO WORDS!!!”

Chandler’s sister, Chelsea Davis, is a cherished member of the Hickory Tickory Tots staff, and the center has asked for prayers and support for both the Davis families during this unimaginable time.

The outpouring of community support has been immediate and heartfelt. Friends, coworkers, classmates, and neighbors have come together to grieve and celebrate the lives of two exceptional young people. Their loss is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be—and how senseless acts of irresponsibility can forever alter the lives of others.

As the families of Chandler and Abby begin to process this immense loss, they have expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support being shown. Memorial arrangements are currently underway and will be shared with the public in the coming days.

Both Chandler and Abby were symbols of promise, love, and generosity. Though their time on earth was far too short, their legacy will live on through the lives they touched and the love they gave so freely.

May their memories be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved them. And may this tragedy serve as a solemn reminder of the responsibility we all share to protect one another from preventable harm.

Rest in peace, Chandler and Abby. You are deeply missed, and your light will never be forgotten.
