Elaine’s generosity extended into the world of fine art.
As an esteemed art collector, she was known for her discerning eye and dedication to preserving and promoting artistic excellence. Among her most notable acquisitions was the famed “Three Studies of Lucian Freud” by Francis Bacon, which she purchased in 2013 for $142 million  at the time, the highest price ever paid for an artwork at auction. Her extensive collection boasted masterpieces from Picasso, Monet, and other luminaries, reflecting her deep appreciation for creativity and culture.
Throughout her life, Elaine Wynn exemplified grace, intelligence, and determination. While her business acumen was evident in her role as a major shareholder and board member of Wynn Resorts, she also stood as a fierce advocate for corporate transparency and ethical governance, especially in the wake of controversies that rocked the company in later years. Her leadership was marked by a steady hand and an unwavering commitment to upholding integrity in an industry often mired in scrutiny.
She was also actively involved in various boards and organizations, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and Communities In Schools, a national nonprofit focused on student success. Her influence extended far beyond the casino floors of Las Vegas, reaching into classrooms, museums, and public institutions nationwide.
Elaine Wynn was not just a powerhouse in boardrooms and galleries; she was also a beloved friend, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her two daughters, Kevyn and Gillian, and several grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of pride and joy for her. To those who knew her personally, she will be remembered for her wit, compassion, and unwavering dedication to making the world a more beautiful and equitable place.
The passing of Elaine Wynn marks the end of an era  a woman who changed the face of luxury hospitality, redefined philanthropy, and championed the transformative power of education and art. Her legacy will live on through the many institutions she supported, the lives she touched, and the vision she inspired in countless others.
A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends, with a public celebration of her life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Elaine Wynn’s name to educational foundations and arts organizations she held dear.
