Nicholas ‘Nick’ West Obituary-Death News; Nicholas ‘Nick’ West From Alexandria, Louisiana Passed Away
Nicholas Alexander West was born on October 1, 1990, in Alexandria, Louisiana, and tragically passed away suddenly on August 11, 2025. A beloved son, cousin, nephew, and friend, Nick was known for his warm personality, good humor, and ability to make everyone feel comfortable—truly never meeting a stranger.
He graduated from Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge and furthered his education at Northwestern State University. Nick dedicated his life to coaching football, working at various high schools including Parkview Baptist, University High, Walker High School, and Natchitoches Central High School.
He also gained experience at the collegiate level, coaching at Sul Ross State University in Texas and Northwestern State University. Preceded in death by his grandparents Billy West, Sr., Paula Haynes West, Matthus West, and Virginia Gremillion West, Nick is survived by his parents, Billy L. West Jr. and Shelley Coe West, and his stepmother, Augustine Williams Nabors.
His family also includes his aunt and uncle, Cyndi and Terry Downs, and cousins Jennifer Martin, William Downs, and Andrew Downs. Nick will be remembered as a dedicated coach, a loyal friend, and a loving son.
His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him. Visitation will take place on August 12, 2025, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, with a rosary at 5:00 p.m. and visitation from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on August 13 at the Minor Basilica of Immaculate Conception, followed by burial at Memory Lawn Cemetery.
