Mother Arrested After Body of Missing 10-Year-Old Son Found Buried in Breathitt County

The search for a missing 10-year-old boy in Breathitt County ended in tragedy Tuesday, as authorities discovered his body buried on Canoe Road in Jackson.

Kentucky State Police confirmed the remains of Jayden Spicer, who had been missing for nearly a week, were located shortly after 3 p.m. An autopsy will be conducted at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort to determine the exact cause of death.

Troopers have arrested the boy’s mother, 33-year-old Felicia Gross, in connection with the case. She is facing charges of second-degree manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and falsely reporting an incident. Gross is currently being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

Spicer was last seen alive on the night of Aug. 5 at his home. His disappearance prompted an intensive search that came to a grim conclusion Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators have not yet released details about the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death, and the case remains under active investigation.
