The fatal incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 26, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., after a ShotSpotter alert led officers to the area of Cesar Chavez Park. Upon arrival, they found Orellana suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a statement from the Salinas Police Department, witnesses reported seeing three individuals dressed in dark clothing fleeing westbound on N. Madeira Avenue immediately after the shooting.
