Bryan Matthew Newsome Accident: Weatherford Man Died in Fatal I-20 Crash was Loved Around Texas

A tragic high-speed collision on eastbound Interstate 20 claimed the life of 41-year-old Bryan Matthew Newsome of Weatherford on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

According to the Abilene Police Department, the crash occurred when Newsome’s white 2016 Toyota Camry struck the rear of a white 2018 Freightliner box truck driven by 56-year-old Khua Ling of Dallas.

Both vehicles were traveling east in the outside lane, with the box truck ahead of the Camry. Witnesses reported that Newsome’s vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before the impact, pushing the truck forward a significant distance.

Emergency crews responded quickly, but Newsome sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin has been notified.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The Abilene Police Traffic Division is continuing to investigate whether intoxication, distractions, or other factors may have played a role.

Newsome leaves behind his wife and children, who are now mourning the sudden and devastating loss. He is remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a man who always put his family first.

Authorities are urging drivers to remain cautious and mindful of speed, particularly on high-traffic roadways such as I-20, as investigations into the fatal crash continue.
