Cindy Lewis Obituary-Death News; Lewis Adventure Farm Owner Cindy Lewis Dies in Fatal Accident

The New Era community is reeling from the tragic loss of Cindy Lewis, beloved owner of the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo, who passed away on Sunday following a devastating accident at the family business two days prior.

Around 7:45 a.m. on Friday, the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call reporting that someone had been struck by a vehicle and was trapped underneath it in the parking lot of the farm.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that the victim was Cindy Lewis, 56, who had already been removed from beneath the vehicle by others on the scene. According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle was being driven by a 61-year-old woman from New Era, who is an employee of the farm.

Initial reports indicate that the employee was pulling into the parking lot when the accident occurred and did not see Lewis. There is no evidence to suggest that drugs or alcohol played any role in the incident.

Lewis was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she fought for her life over the weekend before succumbing to her injuries on Sunday. Her passing has left a deep void not only within her family and business but also in the wider community that knew and respected her.

The incident remains under investigation, and the case will be turned over to the Oceana County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further review. No charges have been announced at this time, and authorities are continuing to gather information about the circumstances leading up to the crash.

In a public statement, the sheriff’s office offered heartfelt condolences to the Lewis family and paid tribute to Cindy’s impact on the community: “Mrs. Lewis was a positive, energetic pillar of our community, integral in the continued growth and development of the family business.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the entire Lewis family. This is a tragic loss for our community and we know that this tragedy will affect not only our community but many others. Please keep the Lewis family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate these difficult days.”

Her passion for creating joyful, educational experiences for children and families was evident in every corner of the farm — from its petting zoo to the pumpkin patch to its many interactive exhibits. As news of her death spread, messages of grief and support poured in across social media, with many community members sharing personal stories of their visits to the farm and the welcoming atmosphere Cindy always fostered.
