Double Shooting in Central City Leaves One Woman Dead, Another Injured

A deadly double shooting in Central City early Sunday morning, August 10, claimed the life of one woman and left another wounded, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 12:01 a.m. in the 2200 block of Magnolia Street. Upon arrival, police found two female victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

One woman, whose identity and age have not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, which authorities say is not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators have not disclosed whether the women were targeted by another individual or if the gunfire was the result of an exchange between the two. The NOPD stated that no additional details are available at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Residents with information are urged to contact police as authorities work to determine the events leading to the tragic shooting.
