Elvin Murillo Castro Obituary-Death News; Elvin Murillo Castro Passes Away In A Fatal Carroll Car Crash
Elvin Murillo Castro, a 17-year-old, lost his life in a deadly crash in rural Carroll, Iowa, on April 14, 2025.
The Iowa State Patrol reported that the incident occurred at the intersection of 220th Street and Hawthorne Avenue around 10:40 p.m. when a tractor driven by 51-year-old Troy Bluml ran a stop sign and struck a northbound Hyundai Santa Fe on the driver’s side.
Elvin Murillo Castro, who was operating the SUV, and his 55-year-old passenger Pedro Castro Murillo died at the scene. Another occupant, 24-year-old Carlos Murillo Castro, sustained severe injuries and was transported to a hospital in the Des Moines area.
Bluml allegedly fled the scene following the crash but was located and arrested the next day.
He now faces two counts of homicide by motor vehicle and one count of serious injury by motor vehicle. Authorities also initially charged him with leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
