Greeta’s life was one defined by unwavering faith, love for family, and commitment to service. Born and raised in northwest Iowa, she was deeply rooted in the traditions of faith, community, and perseverance that marked the region. Throughout her 86 years, Greeta touched countless lives through her gentle spirit, warm smile, and willingness to serve others.

Greeta was known for her involvement in her church, where she spent decades volunteering with various ministries, including Sunday school, women’s Bible studies, and mission outreach programs. Her devotion to her faith was central to her life, and she found joy in sharing that faith with others. Whether through a kind word, a handmade card, or a home-cooked meal, Greeta offered comfort and encouragement wherever she went.

She was also a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her home was a place of welcome and warmth, where neighbors would often stop by for a cup of coffee or a word of encouragement. Family gatherings were cherished occasions, filled with laughter, storytelling, and Greeta’s famous pies and casseroles. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a steady, loving presence who taught them the value of kindness, prayer, and resilience.

In addition to her deep love for family and community, Greeta had a quiet strength and sense of humor that endeared her to everyone who knew her. Even in her final months at Crown Point Estates Care Center, she continued to share joy with the staff and fellow residents. Her caregivers recall her gratitude, grace, and faithfulness, even in the face of declining health.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Crown Point Estates and to Greeta’s many friends and neighbors who offered love, prayers, and support during her final days. They find peace in knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and resting in the presence of her Lord.

Greeta J. Kruid’s legacy will live on in the lives she touched through her generosity, compassion, and steadfast faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral arrangements are currently being made and will be announced by the family in the coming days. A memorial service will be held at her longtime church in Sioux Center, with burial to follow at a nearby cemetery. Memorial contributions in Greeta’s honor may be made to her church or to a local charity that supports elderly care, a cause close to her heart.

As Sioux Center says goodbye to one of its most faithful and kind-hearted citizens, we remember Greeta with gratitude and love, honoring a life that exemplified humility, service, and grace.
