Logan Sauer Obituary-Death News; Logan Sauer Passed Away – Logan Sauer Dies After Fatal Accident In Charlotte

Authorities have released additional information about a devastating crash that occurred Saturday morning in west Charlotte, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuring another. The incident unfolded around 11 a.m. on the outer loop of Interstate 485, between Wilkinson Boulevard and West Boulevard.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers, the crash involved three vehicles: a Honda CRV, a Chrysler van, and a parked tractor-trailer. Investigators say the CRV, which was traveling in the middle lane of the interstate, suddenly veered into the right lane, where it collided with the van. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and crash into the stationary tractor-trailer positioned on the shoulder.

The driver of the CRV was identified as 16-year-old Logan Sauer of Mooresville. Tragically, Sauer was the only occupant of the vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities have not indicated what caused Sauer to shift lanes before the collision, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Chrysler van, carrying six occupants, was struck on its left side during the lane change. Five of the six individuals inside the van were pronounced dead at the scene.

They have been identified as 27-year-old Samuel Holmes, who was driving; 23-year-old Taylor Willis; 1-year-old Brynlon Holmes; 3-year-old Addyson Holmes; and 8-year-old Kamron Wood. The sole survivor of the van, a 16-year-old girl, was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Her condition has not been released at this time.

Troopers confirmed that the driver of the parked tractor-trailer was uninjured and not at fault. The tractor-trailer had been legally stopped on the shoulder when the crash occurred.

Emergency responders closed off the affected portion of I-485 for several hours as investigators surveyed the scene and collected evidence. While no charges are expected to be filed, authorities are working to determine whether speed, distraction, or other factors played a role in the tragic collision.

Family members and friends of the victims have begun to share memories and condolences online, expressing deep grief and shock. Local officials and grief counselors have offered support to those affected by the tragedy.

The crash has once again sparked conversation about teen driving safety, as well as the importance of vigilance behind the wheel. Logan Sauer, though only 16, was legally licensed to drive. Investigators are looking into whether driver inexperience may have been a factor.

This tragedy marks one of the deadliest crashes in Mecklenburg County in recent years. The community mourns the lives lost and awaits further updates as the investigation continues.
