Marilyn Estrada and Mariah Estrada Missing – Authorities Searching for Two Missing Sisters in Atascosa County
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for two young sisters, Marilyn Estrada, 11, and Mariah Estrada, 13, who were reported missing early Saturday morning in the Atascosa County area near Lytle, Texas.
According to the sheriff’s office, the girls were last seen sometime between 10:30 p.m. Friday night and 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning at their residence in the 15600 block of Shepherd Road. When their mother awoke and went to check on them, she found their bedroom empty and quickly reported them missing.
In a statement released Saturday, BCSO confirmed that the two sisters may have taken the family’s pet cat with them when they left the home, adding a potentially helpful detail for anyone who might have seen them.
Marilyn Estrada is described as being 4 feet 8 inches tall, with light brown hair and brown eyes. Her older sister, Mariah Estrada, is 5 feet tall, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities have not released information regarding what clothing the girls may have been wearing at the time of their disappearance.
Law enforcement officers are treating the situation with urgency due to the young age of the girls and the time of night they are believed to have gone missing. Atascosa County and Bexar County authorities have been working together, canvassing neighborhoods, speaking with locals, and reviewing any available surveillance footage from homes or businesses in the area.
So far, no signs of foul play have been reported, and officials have not confirmed whether the girls left voluntarily or if their disappearance may be linked to another party. However, given their ages, officials are extremely concerned for their safety, especially if they are traveling without adult supervision.
“We are doing everything we can to locate Marilyn and Mariah quickly and safely,” said a spokesperson from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. “Our investigators are working closely with the community, and we urge anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the area during the overnight hours to come forward.”
The sheriff’s office has also emphasized the importance of public involvement in cases like this, noting that even seemingly minor details could help lead to a safe resolution.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Marilyn and Mariah Estrada is urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at 210-335-6000, or to email the Missing Persons Unit at missingpersons@bexar.org.
In the meantime, family, friends, and neighbors are holding out hope for the safe return of the Estrada sisters. Community members have begun organizing search efforts and sharing the girls’ photos and descriptions across social media in hopes of generating leads.
As of now, the case remains under active investigation, and updates are expected to be released as more information becomes available. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage vigilance and compassion from the public during this difficult time for the Estrada family.
