MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Vaughn Forest Church community and the city of Montgomery are in mourning following the tragic loss of Mattison “Matt” Noah Aldridge, a devoted student pastor, coach, and pillar of faith, who passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 28.
A resident of Pike Road, Matt Aldridge was known for his passionate ministry, his heartfelt sermons, and his unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a student pastor, Matt had an extraordinary gift for connecting with young people—bringing biblical truth to life with a blend of clarity, compassion, and sincerity that resonated with all who heard him.
His love for ministry was matched by his talent in music. As a founding member of the worship band The Theikos Exchange, Matt used his musical gifts to inspire worship and create deeper spiritual connections. Whether preaching from the pulpit, leading worship, or mentoring students, Matt lived to reflect the love and hope of Christ in every interaction.
Matt is survived by his wife and best friend, Jessie Aldridge, with whom he shared a marriage marked by laughter, love, and unshakable faith. He is also survived by his brother, Mason Aldridge (Caitlin), sister Marlee Aldridge, and niece Campbell, who adored her uncle’s playful spirit and generous heart. Matt was deeply cherished by his grandparents: Regina and Philip Lee, Connie and John Copeland, and Bill and Helen Aldridge. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dawn Aldridge Barron, and his grandmother, Elva Mae Brown.
Outside of ministry, Matt was known for his love of video games, his time spent with family and friends, and his loyal companion, Winston, a dog he considered his best friend. Friends remember his quick wit, his easygoing charm, and the way he made people feel truly seen and heard.
As the community gathers to grieve, tributes continue to pour in from those whose lives were touched by Matt’s ministry and friendship. His voice, his faith, and his unwavering commitment to pointing others toward Jesus leave a lasting legacy.
