Maureen Maguire, born on November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of her cherished family.
While she began her journey in the vibrant heart of New York City, it was in the quiet suburbs of Philadelphia where Maureen truly made her mark—building a life rooted in warmth, tradition, and boundless affection.
A proud alumna of Archbishop Prendergast High School, Class of 1968, Maureen pursued her passion for education at West Chester University, graduating in 1972. She began her professional life as an elementary school teacher, bringing her natural patience, creativity, and warmth to the classroom.
Her early career reflected her nurturing spirit and her love for guiding and inspiring children. After marrying the love of her life, the late Daniel J. Maguire, Jr., Maureen found her true calling as a devoted mother and homemaker.
She poured her heart into raising their three children—Chuck (Jessica), Courtney (David), and Patrick (Christen)—creating a home that was always full of love, laughter, and life. Her role as “Mom” extended beautifully into “Nana,” as she joyfully embraced her six beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her later years.
Maureen was also a deeply loved sister to Loretta O’Brien (Kevin) and John Bullock (Linda), who remained close companions through every chapter of her life.
She held the memory of her parents, Howard and Cecilia Bullock, and her dear younger brother Howie, close to her heart, honoring them in the way she lived—with grace, strength, and an open heart.
She was a woman who treasured life’s simplest joys—especially the beach. The shore, and particularly Cape May, held a special place in her soul. She found peace in the sound of the waves and loved spending long, unhurried days by the ocean with her family.
Her affection for dogs, especially her loyal companion Butch, reflected her nurturing and gentle nature. Later in life, Maureen’s world grew even more colorful with her friendship with Ed Kelce.
Together, they shared a vibrant chapter filled with travel, concerts, football games, and a shared zest for embracing every moment. Whether tailgating on a Sunday or dancing under the stars, Maureen lived those days to the fullest.
Her friends and family will remember her signature style—most notably her tennis skirts, which she wore religiously despite never playing a single match. She was the ultimate hostess, known for throwing the most memorable gatherings filled with warmth, humor, and extraordinary food.
Her laughter filled rooms, and her ability to make others feel welcome and important was one of her greatest gifts. Maureen Maguire’s life was a testament to the beauty of love, family, friendship, and grace.
Her legacy is one of strength, joy, compassion, and unforgettable memories. She touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the [Penn Heart Transplant Fund], which supports individuals in financial need as they undergo heart transplants—a cause close to Maureen’s heart.
