Rachel Prince Obituary-Death News; Columbus Police Seek Person of Interest After Woman Found Dead on Northwest Side
Authorities with the Columbus Division of Police are actively searching for a person of interest following the homicide of a woman on the city’s northwest side.
The tragic discovery was made on Sunday afternoon, July 14, 2025, in the 5000 block of Cobblestone Drive, a residential neighborhood typically known for its quiet surroundings.
Officers were dispatched to the location at approximately 1:20 p.m. in response to what police have described only as an “unknown type of complaint.”
When they arrived on the scene, they found 46-year-old Rachel Prince unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel from the Columbus Division of Fire quickly responded, but despite their efforts, Prince was pronounced dead at 1:29 p.m.
Following a preliminary investigation and a subsequent examination by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, Prince’s death has been ruled a homicide. Authorities have not released the specific cause of death at this time, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Police have since identified Jason Palmer as a person of interest in connection with the case. While he has not been officially named a suspect, detectives believe Palmer may have critical information related to the circumstances of Rachel Prince’s death. As of Monday, his whereabouts remain unknown, prompting a public call for assistance in locating him.
“We’re asking anyone who has seen Jason Palmer or knows where he may be to please contact us immediately,” said a spokesperson for the Columbus Police Homicide Unit. “We want to speak with him as part of our ongoing investigation. He may have information that is vital to understanding what happened.”
Authorities have not clarified the nature of the relationship between Palmer and Prince, nor have they shared details regarding how Prince was found or whether there were signs of a struggle at the scene. Neighbors on Cobblestone Drive expressed shock over the incident, with several describing the area as peaceful and tight-knit.
One nearby resident, who asked not to be named, said, “This is the kind of place where everyone waves hello and looks out for each other. It’s heartbreaking to know something like this happened so close to home.”
As investigators continue their work, the Columbus Division of Police is urging the public to come forward with any tips. Members of the community who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area around the time of the incident—or who may have information on Jason Palmer’s location—are encouraged to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
