Search Underway for Missing 15-Year-Old Mikael McComb in Baytown, Texas

Authorities in Harris County are actively searching for 15-year-old Mikael McComb, a teenager with verbal autism who was last seen Sunday afternoon in the Baytown area. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has issued a call for the public’s assistance in locating the missing teen, who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

Mikael was last seen around 3 p.m. on Whiting Rock Street, a residential area located in east Harris County near Baytown. According to law enforcement, Mikael is considered especially vulnerable due to his autism and the possibility that he may be in a state of mental distress.

He was last spotted wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt that is red, white, and black, paired with gray and black sweatpants that feature a distinct yellow stripe down the side. These clothing details are key identifiers, and the public is urged to be alert for any sightings matching this description.

The HCSO Missing Persons/Runaway Unit is handling the case and emphasized the urgency of locating Mikael. “Time is critical in these situations,” a department spokesperson stated. “Mikael is a vulnerable teen with specific communication needs. We are asking everyone in the area to remain vigilant and report any possible sightings immediately.”

Family members are understandably distraught and are doing everything they can to assist in the search. They described Mikael as a gentle and kind young man with a deep love for video games and comic books. While he may have difficulty expressing himself, those who know him say his personality shines through with patience and kindness.

“He means everything to us,” a family member shared. “We just want him home safe. Please, if you see someone who looks like him, call it in. Don’t assume someone else will.”

Authorities have not yet indicated whether Mikael may have left on foot or if any surveillance footage is available from the area where he was last seen. However, the department has confirmed that local deputies are canvassing the neighborhood, and search efforts are expanding to include nearby parks, businesses, and wooded areas. Drones and K9 units may be deployed if necessary.

Community members have already started sharing Mikael’s photo and description across social media in hopes of increasing awareness and generating leads. Many expressed concern and compassion for the McComb family, offering prayers and support during the ongoing search.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information — no matter how small — to come forward. Tips can be reported by calling the HCSO Missing Persons/Runaway Unit at (713) 274-9270. In the case of an immediate sighting, residents are asked to dial 911.

In situations involving individuals with autism, especially those in distress, authorities advise the public to approach with care and caution. Sudden movements or loud voices can be distressing, so if you spot someone who may be Mikael, it’s best to call authorities and allow trained professionals to intervene.

As the search enters its second day, hopes remain high for Mikael’s safe return. His family, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Baytown community are united in their effort to bring him home.
