Authorities have identified the woman found dead in her Atlantic Beach home on August 2 as Sheila Campbell, a beloved mother to her son, Paul Campbell.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) said Campbell, believed to be in her 70s, was discovered after a neighbor checked on her and found her unresponsive inside her residence on Sailfish Drive. The Atlantic Beach Police Department (ABPD) responded to the scene around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.
One person was detained for questioning, though officials have not confirmed any arrests or charges. “Sheila was more than just a neighbor — she was family to so many in our community,” one resident shared. “We’re devastated.”
JSO said it is collaborating closely with ABPD as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
