Shooting in Fremont Today; Investigation Continues After One Arrested in Relation To The Deadly Fremont Shooting
A suspect has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in the Northport Loop West area of Fremont, police confirmed.
The Fremont Police Department (FPD) responded to multiple 911 calls placed around 10:37 a.m., reporting gunfire and a person down in the area. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a victim on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police immediately administered life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and took over emergency care. Despite efforts to stabilize the individual, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
In response to the incident, the FPD quickly secured the area and launched an active investigation. At approximately 12:40 p.m., officers announced that a portion of the 45000 block of Northport Loop West would be closed off for several hours due to police activity.
Officials urged residents and visitors to avoid the area while authorities continued their work. Investigators believe the suspect was still in the vicinity during the initial response. Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area and detained a person believed to be connected to the shooting.
The identity of the suspect has not yet been released, and police have not provided details on whether the suspect and victim knew each other or what the possible motive may have been.
Authorities have also not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. The Fremont Police Department has confirmed that this is the city’s second reported homicide of 2025. The first occurred earlier this month on June 20.
As of Tuesday evening, the scene remains active, and officers continue to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. Detectives are working to determine the timeline of events and whether the shooting was an isolated incident or part of a larger dispute. Investigators have not said whether a weapon was recovered at the scene.
“We understand the concern incidents like this cause in our community,” said a spokesperson for the FPD. “We want to reassure residents that we are fully committed to a thorough investigation. We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area around the time of the incident to come forward and speak with our detectives.”
Police are urging residents in the area with surveillance cameras or doorbell video systems to check their footage for anything suspicious between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Community members with information are encouraged to contact the Fremont Police Department’s Investigations Unit.
While the investigation continues, authorities are asking the public to remain patient and stay clear of the Northport Loop West area to allow officers to complete their work safely and efficiently.
More details are expected to be released in the coming days as the investigation unfolds. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the Fremont Police Department’s non-emergency line or submit an anonymous tip through the department’s website.
