Tanner’s journey with cancer was marked not by fear, but by courage and grace. Diagnosed in the prime of his life, he chose to face the illness with remarkable strength. Rather than allowing the diagnosis to define him, Tanner became an inspiration to those around him, openly sharing his story in the hopes of raising awareness about early screening and destigmatizing the conversation around colorectal cancer, particularly among young adults.

A native of Provo, Tanner was well known in the local community for his compassion and dedication to service. He attended Brigham Young University and remained deeply connected to his roots, giving back through both volunteer efforts and quiet, everyday acts of kindness. Friends and family often described him as someone who never turned away from someone in need—a gentle soul with a warm smile and an open heart.

Tanner was a devoted husband to his wife, Emily, whom he married in 2016. Their love story was one of true partnership, filled with mutual support, laughter, and shared dreams. Emily was by his side through every moment of his illness, and their bond became a powerful example of enduring love. Together, they found joy even in difficult times—taking walks, watching sunsets, and holding onto hope.

In his professional life, Tanner worked in marketing and communications, where his creativity and empathy set him apart. He was known for his ability to connect with people, tell stories that mattered, and lead with integrity. Colleagues admired his calm demeanor, collaborative spirit, and sense of humor, even in high-pressure situations.

In addition to his wife Emily, Tanner is survived by his parents, Mark and Lisa Martin, his younger brother Joshua, and a wide circle of friends, extended family, and former colleagues who feel privileged to have shared time with him.

A memorial service will be held in Provo later this week, with details to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, the Martins ask that donations be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance in Tanner’s honor, to continue the work he so deeply believed in.

Though Tanner Martin is no longer with us, the impact of his life will endure. He faced the end with the same grace he lived—with strength, honesty, and love.
