Two University of Maryland Eastern Shore Students Killed in Worcester County Crash

Two University of Maryland Eastern Shore students tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in Worcester County.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:18 p.m. on September 3, 2025, on Nassawango Road near Camp Road in Snow Hill. A 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, traveling southbound, failed to navigate a curve, left the roadway, and collided with several trees.

The driver, Luke Jason Hawthorne, 18, of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Munir Loyan Morris, 18, of Capital Heights, Maryland, was airlifted by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command to Tidal Health in Salisbury but later died from his injuries.

No other occupants were in the vehicle. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has been assisting in notifying the families of both students.

Lt. Christopher Larmore of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
